Reminder - Mass dispensation extended

Decree issued 12/10/2020 - Bishop Walker Nickless announced that the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation remains in effect into the year 2021 until further notice. This has been agreed upon by the bishops of all four Iowa dioceses. The rationale behind this decision is based upon the decreased capacity of churches due to the COVID-19 protocols.

What's coming up in The Lumen?

Jan. 14 - Year of St. Joseph
The Year of St. Joseph was announced by Pope Francis earlier this month. The Office of New Evangelization and Discipleship for the Diocese of Sioux City will offer some suggestions on how parishes and individuals can celebrate this special year that will be held Dec. 8, 2020 to Dec. 8, 2021.  Read about it in the Jan. 14 Lumen.

Jan. 14 - Catch up with the seminarians

We will touch base with all our diocesan seminarians in coming issues. For the Jan. 14 issue, we talked with "senior" seminarian Zach Jones in Rome at the North American College. How is he faring with his studies and the European COVID-19 spread?

Pray for all our seminarians and for vocations.
